Julie DeMarco, DVM, CVA
Thank you for visiting our website and I look forward to meeting you soon. A little background on me: I was born in Ohio but then grew up in many places including California, Colorado, Athens, Greece and Brussels, Belgium. In 1992, I received my BS in Zoology from the University of California at Davis. With this degree I taught educational programs at Sea World of Orlando for one year then went on to become an Animal Care Specialist (zoo keeper) at Sea World. I was so fortunate to be able to care for and interact with dolphins, manatees, killer whales, sea lions, seals, river otters and more!
I earned my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 2002 and worked as an Associate Veterinarian and a Relief Doctor before opening Whole Pet. My acupuncture certification is from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
What makes the Chi Institute program unique in the US is that it trains American veterinarians how to achieve more successful treatments based on Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnoses, instead of only Western diagnoses.
Whole Pet Veterinary Care, LLC is a reflection of my deep beliefs in high quality veterinary care and honest business practices. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Thank you for exploring our website. I can see you care about your pet very much to spend the time to explore our staff page to see who will be taking care of that very special animal in your life.
I have lived in Oregon for over 21 years and went to school to be a medical assistant. After spending some time working in human medicine, I got the opportunity to work in animal medicine. I am converted and will never go back!
I have worked on and off in Veterinary offices for 16 years as my children grew. I chose some of that time to stay home and nurture and teach them how to be concerned citizens who care for themselves and their surroundings. I am happy to be a part of a clinic that is so concerned about the world around them and the impact we have on it.
I am excited to learn about new accomplishments in veterinary medicine, so that I can inform you about things that will keep your pet healthy. Looking forward to your call and meeting you soon.

Welcome to our clinic! As a new member to the Salem community I am proud to be involved with Whole Pet. Before relocating to Salem in May 2009, I was a life-long resident of the Klamath Falls area in the beautiful South Eastern Oregon. After adjusting to the traffic and rain of the Willamette Valley, my husband John, our dogs Lucy (a twelve-year-old chihuahua) and Gypsy (a twelve-year-old golden retriever), and our seventeen cows have learned to love our new home.
As a Veterinary Assistant since 1983 I learned the true value of the bond between people and their pets. I have always sought new ways of strengthening that bond through medicine and, in 1991, after earning my degree in Veterinary Technology, I became a Certified Veterinary Technician. My life as a certified Vet Tech has led me on many animal adventures with both domestic animals as well as wildlife. Whether I was rehabilitating racoons, implanting devices in cougars, assisting with surgeries on bears, or simply trimming the claws of one of my client's house cats, I learned that every animal is a unique and incredible individual.
Please feel free to visit our clinic. I will use my many years of animal care experience to ensure the best possible care for your furry friends. See you soon!
